A collection of photographs of cargo vessels visiting the Cumbrian ports of Silloth & Workington today

Developing the site has involved a combination of interests including an enjoyment of photography and an appreciation of marine operations, not to mention exposure to the bracing Irish Sea air and meeting new and interesting characters.

Situated on the Solway Firth in the NW of England, the ports of Silloth & Workington receive traffic to & from the UK as well as ports further afield such as the Baltic, Mediterranean & N. Africa.  

Vessels seen are a mix of dry cargo coasters & tankers.  The variety of shipping & good vantage points make for some interesting opportunities for the photographer.
