October to December
WILSON AVONMOUTH (Valletta) IMO 9313747, 24th Dec 2014
Arriving from Muuga, Estonia with a cargo of fertiliser after a 7day voyage from the Baltic via the Kiel Canal & English Channel.
Ships from the 'Wilson' fleet are regular visitors to the port, most often carrying similar cargos of fertiliser from the Baltic countries.

Inbound with fertiliser from Antwerp. It takes 45min after arriving off the port for the ship to be berthed at the quayside.
LADY ALEXANDRA (Delfzul) IMO 9624835, 31st Aug 2014
Arriving with 3,000 tonne of wheat from St.Nazaire, France. The 2 year old Dutch registered coaster appears to be in pristine condition & proudly displaying a full set of national & company flags.
It's all a game for the port's security dog - an opportunity to chase anything that moves.

LINNAU (St.John's) IMO 9280689, 14th Aug 2014
Inbound with a regular delivery of fertiliser from the Belgian port of Antwerp.
Two youngsters anticipate a close-up view as the ship manoeuvres to pass through the dock entrance at high water, only a few feet away from them.
VYG (Panama) IMO 9055187, 24th Jul 2014
Having arrived on the previous evening's tide, VYG is busy unloading her cargo of fertiliser..
The original name & port of registration (St.Petersburg) is still visible in Russian Cyrillic script on the hull.
The vessel was renamed 'TAHSIN' in 2015 & is now rarely seen in UK waters.

Ships of the Norwegian owned 'HAV' fleet are regular vivsitors to the port, on this occasion ATLANTICA with 2,000 tonne of wheat from Hamburg.

The low draught (3.2m) 'HELEN' arriving with French wheat from Vernon on the River Seine. She was renamed 'URGENCE' in 2015 & now operates largely in the Mediterranean.

FRANCISCA (St.John's) IMO 9148166, 16th Jun 2014
A calm June afternoon for the arrival of 'FRANCISCA' from Gdynia on the Baltic coast of Poland. The ship, built in 1997, appears to be well maintained and is one of a fleet of five coasters owned by 'Forsa Shipping' of Klaipeda, Lithuania.

BBS SURF (Nassau) IMO 9218222, 12th May 2014
Arriving with fertiliser from Ghent on a bright Spring morning. She is tied-up on a temporary berth while 'BEN MAYE' finishes unloading. Sold by 'Arklow' in 2012, & now managed by 'Kopervik Shipping'. The company's funnel emblem wasn't on display.

A delivery of 3,000ton fertiliser from Riga, Latvia. The 3600ton DWT coaster built in 2007 is one of 8 owned by 'Van Dam Shipping' of Groningen, Netherlands. The company is a small family run business operating throughout Europe.

ARKLOW VENTURE (Rotterdam) IMO 9201839, 17th Mar 2014
Seen arriving from Antwerp with a larger than normal, 4,200ton, cargo of fertiliser.
SYLVIA (St.John's) IMO 9454383, 2nd Mar 2014
Inbound rom Gdynia, Poland with a cargo of bagged fertiliser. The vessel is one of 8 owned by 'Van Dam Shipping' of Groningen.
THESEUS (St.John's) IMO 9390159, 28th Feb 2014
Seen at the quayside unloading fertiliser from Sfax, Tunisiia, having arrived on the previous evening's tide. The ship was part of the 'Wessels' shipping group but was sold to 'Wilson' and renamed WILSON DUNDEE' shortly after these photos were taken. The vessel is equipped with a unique 'SkySails' towing kite system. Kite technology captures the energy of high-altitude winds with the aim of lowering fuel costs & reducing emissions.

BALTIC CARRIER (Gibraltar) IMO 9138197, 26th Feb 2014
Having arrived earlier on the morning tide, unloading of the cargo of wheat from Rouen is underway.
The vessel is owned by 'Baltic Forest Line', a small German operator with 3 other ships. The 3100ton DWT general cargo vessel was built in Russia in 1997.

At the quayside with fertiliser from Vyborg, Russia.
The funnel shows the company logo of 'André Wieczorek Shipping' which is based in Hamburg and responsible for 6 vessels. Its ships are often chartered by others such as 'Wagenborg', hence the name on the hull.

Inbound from Riga, Latvia with fertiliser-grade urea.
As the ship approached it could be seen the hatch-lid gantry crane was derailed.
The damage had occurred in the English Channel during a severe storm on 14th Feb.
The storm hit the headlines when sadly a passenger aboard the cruise ship 'MARCO POLO' lost his life & others were injured while heading to Tilbury.
The damaged gantry crane was repaired by contractors in Silloth Dock.
Three days later the ship was unloaded & on its way.

At the quayside & ready for departure on the next tide having unloaded 3,000k ton fertiliser from Ghent. In Nov 2016 'Flinter Shipping' became insolvent & many of its ships were tied up in Dutch ports.

Inbound with a part load of fertiliser from Antwerp. Excellent views were had across the Solway to Criffel on the bright winter's day

Arriving on the midday tide with the first delivery of fertiliser of the New Year from Sagunto, Spain. The 4,250ton DWT vessel was renamed 'FEHN POLLUX' in the following December.
