October to December
HERTFORDSHIRE (Gibraltar) IMO 9137284, 17th Dec 2013
Inbound with wheat from Rouen, France on a bright winter's morning.
The Gibraltar registered vessel was built in Slovakia in 1995. She is now 1 of 9 owned by 'Gillie & Blair' of Newcastle Upon Tyne, a company with over 100yrs of shipping history.

Unloading urea from Arzew, Algeria.
SEA RUBY (George Town) IMO 9006447, 9th Oct
Unloading wheat from Wolgast, Germany.
The vessel is the renamed 'HOO LARCH' which was owned by Lapthorn of London. The original name is still visible on the stern. At 2,200ton DWT she was built in Hull in 1992 & is now owned by 'Gillie & Blair'.

Unloading fertiliser from Ghent. She is still in 'Arklow' livery having changed ownership at the end of 2012, although the distinctive bow & funnel emblems have been removed.

RIVER TRADER (Monrovia) IMO 8813051, 22nd Sep
Inbound on a bright autumn afternoon with wheat from Rouen, France.
The 1,400ton DWT coaster was built in Hull in 1989 as the London registered 'HOO BEECH'. The original name is still visible on the stern.
'RIVER TRADER' ties-up at the east quay as the others are occupied by 'ZAPADNYY' & 'SCOT PIONEER', unloading molasses & baled wood pulp respectively.

MUHLENHAU (St.John's) IMO 9313668, 18th Aug
Inbound with fertiliser from Rouen, France. Unusually choppy waters greet 'MUHLENHAU' at the port's entrance.
RANDZEL (Gibraltar) IMO 9195482, 10th Aug
Outbound in ballast for Ferrol, Spain on the afternoon tide.
'RANDZEL' had arrived 24hrs earlier from Ayr with a shared cargo of fertiliser from St.Petersburg, Russia.
The 4,500ton DWT vessel belongs to the fleet of 'Briese Shipping' of Leer, Germany. Once lined up with the New Dock entrance, 'RANDZEL' passes smoothly into Marshall Dock - always a dramatic sight.
PHANTOM (Gibraltar) IMO 9226712, 7th Aug
Inbound with a part load of fertiliser from Jorf Lasfar via Ayr. It's a fine summer's afternoon for the group of spectators gathered on the south pier to witness the arrival..
There are major production facilities for phosphate fertilisers at the Moroccan port of Jorf Lasfar. The 3,200DWT general cargo vessel, built in 2000, is one of a fleet of 26 managed by 'Interscan Shipping' of Hamburg.
Within 10min of arrival she was ready to begin unloading to waiting wagons using the Sennebogen crawler crane. The 1,500ton of cargo was soon unloaded & the ship made ready for departure to Invergordon on the next tide.

ECHION (Monrovia) IMO 9496597, 8th Jul
Inbound with wood pulp from Santander, Spain. The unloading berth is occupied by 'WILSON DVINA' so 'ECHION' heads for the temporary berth on the east quay.
The 3,700ton DWT vessel, built in 2010, belongs to the 'WESSELS SHIPPING' fleet. She flies the Liberian flag and displays a prominent company funnel logo.
The German company began life more than 100yrs ago when Reinhard Wessels was commissioned to build a ferry to cross the River Ems.

April to June
BALTIYSKIY-202 (Valletta) IMO 9057252, 30th May
Inbound with fertiliser from Klaipeda, Lithuania. She's berthed at the east quay as 'FILIA ARIEA' occupies the unloading berth. It's a shared load with Ayr. Twenty four hours later 1,000 ton have been unloaded and she's ready for departure north. Since 2013 the 2,800ton DWT vessel has changed ownership & been re-registered from Valletta to Belize City.
FILIA ARIEA (Werkendam) IMO 9488515, 29th May
Inbound on the afternoon tide with fertiliser from Ghent, Belgium.
The Dutch registered 2,950ton DWT ship, built in 2008 is 1 of 2 owned by 'Werkendam Shipping'. She flies the flag of the management company 'Amasus Shipping'.
